Biography
Coskun Uzunkaya was born on 1st of January 1976 in Istanbul . When he was
around 18 he worked on a career as an actor in the martial arts genre. He
trained very hard to get his dream come true, but in the year 1995 he had
a terrible car accident which destroyed this plan he had put so much heart
an effort in.
Looking for alternatives he started to study physiotherapy at a private school.
After finishing this education he worked in five star hotels as a massage
therapist, but he did not feel satisfied so he began searching for something
that would make more sense to himself, something that he would feel more passionate
about.
Being in that mood he met a friend who told him about an open position at
the art School Medresesi. So he took that chance seeing it as the challenge
he was waiting for and applied for the job. When he started to work there
in the area of public relations he realized that all the wonderful courses
for learning the traditional art techniques, foreign visitors paid a lot of
money for, were open to him and he felt a growing desire to become an artist
himself. First he started to learn Marbling/Ebru. After studying this technique
for 3 years he felt that he would need to find a new challenge in developing
his own style. By using his own secret technique he started to create very
abstract paintings in beautiful colours. During the development of the paintings
on the water he uses his imagination and intuition inducing unique forms and
patterns.
A further step was that he also started learning calligraphy, another Arabic
style which he practised up to 4 hours a day.
When Coskun Uzunkaya travels out of Turkey he likes to give demonstrations
of his works. His paintings were shown in exhibitions in America , France
, Belgium and Turkey.
For him studying the different art forms is a passionate and life long process
always challenging and never ending.
